Post 6

A modern day song that involves eroticism is K Michelle “These men”. K Michelle basically sings about how women are being treated and how one women will ever be enough to love/ have sex with. In the Wife of Bath she had sex with multiple of men, K Michelle song expressed because she named all the men she tried to love / had sex with. This is a perfect example to go with the Wife of Bath.

I believe that the Wife of Bath's approach to sexuality is more modern but slightly different because she expressed herself to be a pure, perfect, women who was pure and a women that pleased her husband. She was a women who stood up for women. The way she carries herself and demands no double standard be set against her directly opposes the male. Women were more reserved in earlier times and let the men make decisions for them. The Wife of Bath’s show how strong women are. To me this behavior is very modern in many different ways. Because now day people are doing different things.

Post 3: Metamorphoses

Ovid’s Metamorphoses and the book of Genesis have many similarities. For example, in the book of Genesis, it tells of a destructive flood that will destroy all life, with Noah building an arc to save all creatures. Similar to this, Metamorphoses tells of Jupiter punishing mankind with a flood, which wipes out mankind. Another example of similarities shared in both tales is how man was created pure, but was turned evil. In Genesis, man is corrupted by temptation and in Metamorphoses, war is introduced to man in the Iron Age, and causes chaos and evil. Although Ovid’s tale of creation is much different from Genesis’ perspective, they do over lap at certain parts, showing how Genesis may have inspired Ovid to write Metamorphose
